WATER DAMAGE GUIDE

This is a guide to help you with your water damaged furniture. It is not designed to cure or repair any problems from water damage, only serve to prevent further damage from happening.

FIRST AND FOREMOST -
You are dealing with water that is severely contaminated. Use all precautions when handling furniture, such as rubber gloves, BEFORE you start!
Use extreme caution when re-entering your home if you have been evacuated!! Look for signs of mold. If your home has mold, we suggest calling a service such as Americlean, or Servicemaster BEFORE you re-enter your home. Mold can be an enormous health hazard and cause major lung damage or illness.
Upholstered items that have been sitting in water should be discarded completely.
If you wish to keep your upholstered item(s) after they have been sitting contaminated water, it is with great risk.

To help salvage your furniture:
1. Immediately remove and furniture sitting in water, and dry off any wet areas with paper towels - NOT RAGS. All paper towels should be discarded carefully as they will be contaminated.
2. Immediately wipe off your furniture with disinfecting/antibactierial wipes or a mixture of a disinfecting agent (such as Lysol WITH antibacterial agents), wearing protective rubber gloves . DO NOT USE BLEACH WIPES.
3. Immediately after your furniture has been wiped with disinfecting/antibacterial wipes or solution, dry with a rag that can be washed or disposed of.
4. WASH YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY with an antibacterial soap.
4. Let your furniture dry on it's own slowly. Placing a fan in front of it may create further damage and dry the wood too fast causing cracking or splitting.
5. Call your insurance agent as soon as possible.

If your furniture has been sitting in water for a lengthy period of time, it will likely be stained black. We cannot cure this problem very easily once this has occured, but we will make every effort to do all we can to make it look good again.

If you have no flood insurance, Chadima Furniture is offering discounts for repairs and touch ups needed to help defray your cost. Please let us know when you call that you have no insurance and we will work with you accordingly.
